How come SAE numis have a high mintage?
You can get SAE's with a mintage of 400k that increase in price 10x, whereas a gold dragon, with a mintage of 8k, only rises x2 or 3. Why?

Perhaps its because there are millions of coin collectors collecting American coins, and they are silver - a lot more affordable..........gold is more expensive and less people MAY be collecting them. But I have to mention - comparing silver eagles with gold dragons is like comparing a bike with a car! |

The only silver eagle thats close to that that I know of is the 1996 which had the smallest mintage..........or the 20th anniversary set.......in that the demand way overtook the supply........... |

Maybe demand?

Re: How come SAE numis have a high mintage?
Strictly personal choice and demand....
A lot of foreign issues are very interesting, but frankly, the demand is very very weak. You do not see them being pimped on TV by those "Dealers" many have very high initial cost. In the end when you throw them in the pot, they melt just the same. |
